Description

The term “Iranian Negargari” (Persian miniature painting) refers to various styles of Iranian painting across different historical periods. These could be part of a larger artistic work such as books, functional or decorative items, and executed through various techniques such as Gol o Morgh (Flower and Bird), Tazhib (illumination), and Tash’ir (arabesque patterns). It may also appear as a standalone piece, like a painting on canvas, parchment, album, or even as a mural.

It is a form of delicate and detailed Iranian painting that was traditionally used for illuminating literary, scientific, and medical manuscripts or created separately as albums (Moraghe).

During the Qajar era—especially in lacquer painting, illustration, and the creation of flower-and-bird motifs on various boxes, pen cases, and lacquered mirror frames—this art form saw significant growth and led to the creation of highly valuable and exquisite works.

In the world of nature, the flower is a symbol of charm, delicacy, and purity. Wherever there is talk of tenderness and beauty, its symbol is the flower and its delightful fragrance. The scent of flowers purifies the soul, brings joy to humans, and evokes the freshness of fleeting life, the lush gardens of paradise, and spiritual bliss.
